Hi everyone,
ISOC has informed us that we can already announce the formation of the SIG. So congrats to
us all to achieving this in such short time.
They have asked that we add this paragraph in our Bylaws. People from ISOC had already
mentioned to me that they would need to coordinate policy issues with us if this group got
approved.
the text:
Policy positions or statements shall be discussed with ISOC to ensure a coordinated and
aligned approach in any submissions or publications.
It is less than ideal to have this in our Bylaws but I understand it' s ISOC's
prerogative to have it's chapters and SIGs discuss policy issues with ISOC to keep
things aligned. I believe it is ok to add it and if at some point we find ourselves
standing on the opposite side of things we can always publish our position as our
individual organizations through a collective statement.
Please reply very soon if you oppose yo adding this text because our denial at this time
would block the SIG formation, which we expect to announce 2 hours from now before the IGF
closes.
Cheers!
Nico

Hi all,
For the formalization of the SIG, we need to say who will be the acting
officers until we can have a proper election in the first meeting of
the SIG.
I ask that anyone who is willing to fill a position speak up.
The acting Chair will sign the MOU with ISOC so it needs to be someone
who is at the IGF.
I am ok to fill this position for the time being and I'm also OK if
Peter, Sol, Panos or anyone else present here wants to do it.
The positions we need to cover are: Chair, vice Chair, secretary,
treasurer and alternates for the last two, so it's 6 people total.
Someone will also need to be in charge of maintaining the SIG data on
the ISOC platform (members, etc) for which we will receive login data.
I propose it's whoever fills the secretary position.
I also propose that we have our first formal Council Meeting during
January, so we can get the SIG actually working soon.
Cheers !
