Dear all,

Good news from RightsCon organisers!

It is a pleasure to inform you that our RightsCon session proposal on Community Networks: Open Cooperation Space. From Concept to Action has been accepted!

However, due to the extraordinary high number of session proposals received, the organizers proposed that we merge with another session with a similar topic. (see email below)

Will keep you updated as soon as I will receive further news.

All the best

Luca

Assunto: RightsCon Tunis 2019 – Status of Program Session Proposal and Ticket Info

Dear Luca,

Thank you very much for submitting a proposal to host a session at RightsCon Tunis 2019.

The Program Committee has reviewed your proposal and we are very pleased to inform you that your session ID#768 "Community Networks: Open Cooperation Space. From Concept to Action" has been accepted and merged with another high quality proposal tackling the same issue! With nearly 900 proposals from over 85 countries, competition for a limited number of spaces in our program was steep. Congratulations!

When our Program Committee decides to merge proposals together, it means that your session was connected or similarly themed to another and that they are well-suited to run together. We believe combining the proposals provides the program with an excellent quality session while fusing diverse perspectives. This is in line with the RightsCon commitment to stakeholder diversity and developing partnerships across organizations.

One of the things that makes RightsCon so special is our concerted attention to the program and its development, especially after the initial review process. Our number one priority is ensuring that your session helps set a standard of excellence and impact that the RightsCon community increasingly expects.

We will be in touch shortly regarding the details of your session merger, including introducing you to the organizer of the other session, and providing you with individualized recommendations from our Program Committee for ways to best integrate your session at RightsCon.

Should we start drafting a session proposal somewhere (GDocs?) and see what we can come up with? I can work on this too.

I will probably attend the Tunis meeting and could help facilitating the session or man a booth, if we wanted to apply for one? We should move quickly with that one - they are usually given out very early on.

Hi all,

Is there any interest in organizing a session proposal for RightsCon 2019 (which will be in Tunis in June)? https://www.rightscon.org/

I think it could be a good venue to present the work we have been developing within DC3 and beyond.

Depending on who is interested in this, we should draft together (by next  Tuesday) :

·         The main goal of the session -> this may be both raising awareness regarding CNs and the dissemination of instructions on how to build them;

·         The post-conference action -> anything we decide to include here, it is surely something we could support and develop via the DC3;

·         The session Description -> this is quite brief: max 1500 characters and, again depends on the angle we decide to adopt;

·         The name of the speakers -> here everyone is welcome but we have to be mindful to avoid “manels” J

Let me know – ideally ASAP – if anyone is interested

Best

Luca
