Hi Panos! Thanks a lot! Added your link to the newsletter coming out today.

Happy that it helped to move the concept further. Looking forward for Encounter #2. Hopefully I can join.

best,

carlos

Assunto: Re: [DC3] CNs contact opportunity - July 7

Hi Carlos, all,

It went very well. We managed to establish a link with NYCMesh, which had a very nice impact I think.

We called this first effort "CN Encounter #1" and now we are waiting for another CN to attempt #2 :-)

We have recorded everything but I will not have time to process the material before the end of August.

At this stage there is only the description of the event, including a few photos by George Klissiaris at the end:
https://www.netcommons.eu/?q=content/sarantaporo-conference-building-community-community-networks

Notice that Joly (ISOC NY) tricked most of us with a fake background of a NYCMesh roof antenna:
https://www.netcommons.eu/sites/default/files/styles/panopoly_image_original/public/sarantaporo-ny_0.jpg

When I realized, I felt a little embarrassed that I was running around in the village square saying to people to come in quickly because there is someone waiting on a roof of a skyscraper :-)

Despite this spectacular visual effect of Encounter #1, I think there is a lot of room for improvement regarding the set-up which can have a stronger impact (both visual and social) if there are many people gathered on both sides.

Here is some brainstorming text on the concept (that needs to be updated based on our first real experience):

Best,

Panos.
