I did my upgrades with the -n option.

that's probably why the device got deconfigured. the -n option also removes *good* old configurations as well. ;-)

The -n option removes the old configuration and gives you the default one, which is supposed to work.
 
I will try to compare its files to the ones of a working LiMe 17.06 router.

I did the comparison and every file seems to be properly configured.

Now I have flashed the router with its default stable 17.06 image with generic settings from the "Precompiled Binaries" section at libremesh.org and got the same issue! Every SSID is in "unknown" mode.
