While we decide on the more "frivolous" matter of the domain name, I
would like to ask that all of us participating in the list define our
intentions to participate on the initial working groups that we have
established.
There's no need to "lurk" working groups, let's only join those groups
where we want to focus our active participation; the Council will be
aware of all the group's plans and activities anyway.
I also propose that if you feel that you could coordinate a WG, you mark
your name with "**"
Cheers!
Nico
Hi all,
For the formalization of the SIG, we need to say who will be the acting officers until we can have a proper election in the first meeting of the SIG.
I ask that anyone who is willing to fill a position speak up.
The acting Chair will sign the MOU with ISOC so it needs to be someone who is at the IGF.
I am ok to fill this position for the time being and I'm also OK if Peter, Sol, Panos or anyone else present here wants to do it.
The positions we need to cover are: Chair, vice Chair, secretary, treasurer and alternates for the last two, so it's 6 people total.
Someone will also need to be in charge of maintaining the SIG data on the ISOC platform (members, etc) for which we will receive login data. I propose it's whoever fills the secretary position.
I also propose that we have our first formal Council Meeting during January, so we can get the SIG actually working soon.
Cheers !
Nico

I was thinking the same thing. I would happily step down and be replaced if that is more appropriate.

Just a general comment for me: I would try to keep a gender and CN diversity in the initial role allocation ... at least regarding the 4 main roles.
For example I would be happy to see Sol from Zenzeleni in one of the thede and ideally not the secratary to break this stereotype :-)

If needed, I can be a second name on Secretary.

Hello friends,
If you are receiving this e-mail, you have been contacted in the past
weeks either by me or by Nico Pace regarding the foundation of the ISOC
CNSIG and you have agreed to be a part of it.
If the e-mail address you were subscribed with is incorrect, please
unsubscribe and subscribe back with the correct one.
We have been discussing and collectively editing the SIG application in
this pad:
https://pad.codigosur.org/CNSIG
I sent this application to ISOC already and as many of you know it is in
the process of peer review until December 13 (tomorrow in most timezones).
In the meantime, some of us have been writing a first draft of the SIG
Bylaws:
https://pad.codigosur.org/CNSIG_Bylaws
(all text with no color is from the ISOC template)
My proposal, because this is a complex document where every part has to
make sense with the rest is that we discuss in this e-mail thread any
important or structural change.
Just as an introduction before you read the Bylaws, I want to clarify
some points:
1) we have organized the SIG in a way that it's Board has very little
executive power and is mostly tasked with representing the SIG and
keeping the administrative work in order.
2) we defined an Executive Council that is the governing body and takes
every decision. This council can have up to three members from each
Community Network organization.
3) Members of this SIG must be active participants in Community Networks
projects.
4) Trusted Advisors are a special kind of member which must be invited
and approved by the CN members.
well... those I believe are the central organizing ideas. The rest is
there to read. Please write your name on top of the pad so we have a
color reference of authorship.
You will find that articles VIII to XI have not been edited much. These
need work.
Cheers !!
NicoEchániz
PS: we have a chance to have the SIG approved during the IGF if we can
finish the Bylaws in time.
