I set the end date to friday 29, hope that's ok, so we can maybe have a
placeholder site online by new year.
Cheers!

Morning one and all,
I'm fine with any domain. Just a few thoughts to add to the pot.
1.
https://www.internetsociety.org/sigs this is a list of other ISOC
SIGS and their domains. We are free to do what ever we feel, this just
adds to the ideas you've all put out.
2. Summary of choices:
-> add ISOC in domain or not, eg: isoc-CNsig/community
networks.net/info/org <http://networks.net/info/org>
-> add SIG or not
-> add full word vs acronym.
-> domain, ISOC and all domains of other SiGS are .org.
My suggestions:
Community networks is immediately recognisable, as a word people would
come across it more, and also get immediate idea of what it's about. I
think this is positive if we want to have a voice further than our
community. If we go with full word (communitynetworks) I would keep it
to 1 word, -SIG... again for the same reason...but also because without
- SiG it's crazy expensive.
I would consider .org for standard sake to other SiGs and ISOC.
So,
communitynetworks-sig.org <http://communitynetworks-sig.org>
Nico, go for whatever makes most sense. I trust you will consider
everyones input and make a good choice.
Thanks, Sol
PS: as we are independent we can do whatever we want (even
"thereturnoftheisoccnsig.globe.info
<http://thereturnoftheisoccnsig.globe.info>" :)

We could register both of them (
community-networks.net
<http://community-networks.net> and cnsig.info <http://cnsig.info>)
just in case we need it in the future and redirect the one to the
other if we like. Also the
communitynetworks.net
<http://communitynetworks.net> may be already registered but it is
not in currently in use and they say the sell it, which means that
we could buy it sometime in the future or wait until they don't
uodate it again and register it after that.

Hi all,
My feeling is that there is a trade-off in relation to the fact
that all
this is happening under
the ISOC umbrella (btw, since there is a "hack" in the Bylaws on our
side I think it is fair to
include that extra sentence in the policy WG).
But then we shouldn't forget that this body is an ISOC one and
perhaps
the url should
reflect this. In this sense, I like cnsig.info <http://cnsig.info>.
And I also like
community-networks.net
<http://community-networks.net> because it is more encompassing
and looks nice
(with the small drawback that people don't remember to put
"dashes"
inside URLs and
there might be confusion with the
communitynetworks.net
<http://communitynetworks.net>).
We could even have both, and
community-networks.net
<http://community-networks.net> could be a simple
portal to (hopefully)
many different coalitions between community networks around the
world
under different
umbrellas or no umbrellas :-)
And the cnsig could be more specific to the activities of the
SIG inside
ISOC.
I am not sure, just thinking loud ...

My proposals (i have already checked they are
available):
1.
community-networks.net <http://community-networks.net>
<http://community-networks.net>
(12,5€/year****) - I find this more suiteable
because it
highlights
directly what we are: a network of community
networks
2.
community-networks.org <http://community-networks.org>
<http://community-networks.org> (9,3€/year****)
3. community-networks.info
<http://community-networks.info>
(7,2€/year****)

Cnsig is kind of "codified". I like community.network much better.
