Hi All –
There will be an interesting “spectrum symposium” today in Washington. See below from the awesome Joly MacFie of ISOC NY Chapter.
This is more the high-level policy-related aspects, but it is noteworthy that NTIA is bringing out the DOC Secretary (“Secretary” = Minister in the US).
For those that may not be aware, NTIA manages “public” or government spectrum vs the FCC. FCC manages private sector/commercial spectrum.
And, FCC is part of NTIA’s long-standing (over 50 years) Interagency Radio Advisory Committee (IRAC). The IRAC is the first inter-agency (mulit-ministry/multi-govt org) coordinating body.
NTIA manages the IRAC and entities like FCC, Transportation, Energy, Defense, and many more are on that committee.
In any event, it may be of interest as they may signal a policy/tech direction during this event.
Best,
Jane

Hi everyone,
I'm not sure if someone's already shared this (if so, apologies for cross
posting).
The Ford Foundation is soliciting proposals for research on digital
infrastructure:
https://www.fordfoundation.org/ideas/equals-change-blog/posts/a-call-for-re…
I think the call is open until Wednesday. ,
So, it's a tight deadline, but doable.
I have a much longer and fleshed-out version of my DC3 report from 2017
that I'm thinking of submitting (it's 80+ pages now). We'll see what
happens (not too much interest in sustainable networks, these days it
seems. If that's not the case, let me know. I'd love to secure funding to
finish it).
Best,
-Michael
Hi All –
Please see he note below about Fellowships to ITU-PP from my colleague Elizabeth.
We provide fellowships to our members to help train folks and expose them to coalition building with/in an international IGO to spread the word, create change, and work with colleagues on issues we all care about.
PP-18 may not be our end-game, but it is one of the value-chain elements to more global understanding of key ways to connect the unconnected from the “community up”.
We can also break down barriers for more cohesive collaborative work at PP 18.
Criteria – be an ISOC member (free), be involved in ITU/PP/Internet/Civil Society/CNs/IOT/Cybersecurity issues
AND, must not have had a fellowship to PP or other major ITU Conferences, before.
Deadline 10 June.
Apply or alert your networks.
