Love this idea, Panos - "thavma" (
And, Dustin Phillips cc'd here - just undertook a great "IGF on the road"
in North America. An across the US into Canada thing where he did events (some half-day,
some all day) with folks across the US (as the US IGF is usually in DC) and it was all
live-streamed (I think...).
With your idea of going to the people running a project - it could be "CN's on
the road to IGF "?
We keep CN voices strong and strengthen the local/global angle??

Thanks Jane!
This reminds me to add sub-titles and publish the recent Sarantaporo
"video report" :-)
And here is a somehow radical idea for the "let the unconnected speak
for themselves" panel in a brainstorming spirit:
Imagine a panel that there are no real people presenting but only
screens connected to very remote places where CNs operate. Experienced
people from these countries that would typically be in IGF go instead to
those remote places, organize the community to get together, and help
moderate the contributions and exchanges between the local people across
the world and of course the audience in the room at IGF.
If it is technically possible I think it would give a nice message
bringing the remote participants in the foreground (instead of the
background). And it is perhaps the only realistic way to do what this
title declares!
Anyway. Just brainstorming :-)

HI Panos -
I like your idea.
Another "part" of this could be narrated videos (with sub-titles) that many of
our organizations can show on loops during the IGF at our "booths".
Best,
Jane

Maybe someone else can put together the one of o

Some brainstorming on this point:
In the previous IGF there was a lot of discussion on remote
participation and since it is very difficult for local people to travel
(we had tried in the case of Sarantaporo to bring some of the community
"champions" in Athens but it proved very difficult because they are both
shy and busy), I thought that it might be interesting to try something
creative along these lines.
E.g., we could organize remote participation from CNs in different
places around the world mediated by local english-speaking persons. I
think it would be cool if we could "bring together" people from
different continents in the same "space" meeting each other even if
"digitally".
If you think this is an interesting direction to explore I could try to
think more about it :-)
And btw, on July 7-8 the netCommons project organizes an international
conference in the Sarantaporo area with many special guests as you can
see here:
https://www.netcommons.eu/?q=content/sarantaporo-conference-building-commun…,
and there are still a few places available.
Best,
Panos
