for proposal for the 2019 FRIDA Community Networks Award

Eligible applicants must be based in Latin America and the Caribbean and
be working on developing affordable, locally-managed community networks
and deploying creative low-cost solutions to bring connectivity to
undeserved populations.
The Award includes a financial support of US$5,000 and a travel
fellowship to the 2019 IGF at Berlin.

FRIDA Call for Proposals 2019
The Regional Fund for Digital Innovation in Latin America and the
Caribbean (FRIDA) announces its 2019 call for proposals to fund
community network projects and initiatives that promote gender equity in
technology. Applicants have time until Wednesday 15 May to submit an
executive summary of their projects. This year's categories and topics
include:
*FRIDA Grant for Technology and Gender*. FRIDA will offer a USD 20,000
grant for the deployment of an innovative project that promotes greater
gender equality through technology

initiatives that focus on developing digital skills among women and
girls, encouraging women’s participation in digital markets and their
access to employment in the technology sector, implementing strategies
to defend digital rights and increase online security and the inclusion
of women and girls online, and supporting women's involvement in
Internet industry.
*FRIDA Award for Community Networks*. FRIDA will offer a USD 5,000 cash
prize plus a fellowship to participate in the 2019 Global Internet
Governance Form (IGF) to be held in Berlin, Germany to a consolidated
community network with proven impact

for proposals, community networks are Internet access networks built and
operated by citizens who wish to connect their local community, town or
city. The FRIDA Award will recognize innovation in business models,
regulation, technology and local content development that contribute to
the growth of community networks. Eligible organizations will be working
on the deployment of affordable, locally-managed community networks and
the implementation of creative low-cost solutions to bring connectivity
to underserved populations.
