Hi C.A. and all,
The agenda of the pre-event is something we should define jointly exploiting this list.
We have 4 months to elaborate an enticing programme and, given the good ideas around in
this list, I am sure we will come with some interesting proposals.
Obviously, we should try to avoid overlapping with the DC3 session and with the workshop.
So below I sum up some ideas to clarify whee we we stand and what are the session we are
organising:
1) The DC3 session will be dedicated to short presentation of the submissions to the
Report (I have received 5 papers so far + 2 or 3 more to come in the next days) + debates
on the issues raised by the panellists. My proposal is to strucuture the presentation with
questions asked by the modertor. Something similar to the structure of last year session
of the DC on Net Neutrality
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Io_-LSe0d80 could be good
http://igf2015.intgovforum.org/event/4bx8/dynamic-coalition-on-net-neutrali…
2) The workshop will have a different structure based on 3 "rounds" of
interactions between the panellists and the participants: Round 1 identify problems. Round
2 existing solutions. Round 3 propose recommendations and provocative thoughts. BTW it is
now possible to edit the workshop description, so if anyone wants to propose any
modifcations, be my guests :)

3) Pre-event. To avoid overlaps with the above sessions, I would recommend to have a more
"pragmatic" approach. Given that we have more than 3 hours for the pre-event, we
would have time for e.g.:
- brief case studies focusing the various elements of CN that Jane suggested in her email
(software, hardware, policy, regulation, etc.)
- practical workshop/demonstration, consisting in showing how to build a CN (I know Nico
has already a certain experience with this and I am sure there are many other talented CN
makers willing to join in ;)
- policy-suggestion workshop consisting in sitting together (perhaps organising
participants in small groups would be a good idea) and elaborating some key
messages/recommendations for the development of CN (e.g. with regard to CN governance
mechanisms, spectrum policy, CN self-regulation, etc)
This latter segment would be very useful if we wanted to propose an outcome document to be
"voted" during the IGF. Last year, several Dynamic Coalitions propsed outcome
documents requestinf feedback on these documents using "Idea Rating Sheets." The
same method will be used this year. I think it is a good opportunity for us to develop
some key recommendations on CN and have them assessed by IGF participants.
Let me know what you think.
Abraços
Luca

It would be good to know what agenda Luca is suggesting for this meeting as well.
Gathering for gathering may be tiresome since we will have a lot of work to do during the
IGF (our workshop, the DC work etc).
I would suggest a short pre-meeting reunion to adjust details of our participation in the
IGF given the above, and by no meams a full day thing.
fraternal regards

A couple of days ago, I had an off-list

Mike and we thought about proposing an IGF pre-event on the afternoon
of 5 December and follow-up with APC Disco-Tech

What do you and other list-member think?
I understood that Jane was proposing a long session... similar to what
we had in Bogotá. Well... maybe not that long :)
What duration are you proposing for this afternoon gathering Luca?
