On one side, communication networks can be designed with sustainability in mind—they can be resource-efficient, interoperable or open. On the other side, communication networks have also the potential to improve sustainability in other areas, such as agriculture, environmental monitoring, health monitoring, etc. In this Special Issue, we would like to span all these areas and show how, broadly, various types of communication networks can be used to support a more sustainable life on Earth.
