Dear all,
The netCommons.eu research project has finished and one of its final outputs will be an
accessible book on CNs written with the "booksprint" methodology over a week at
Vic in Catalonia, the birthplace of guifi.net.
It was first submitted as a project report and will soon be published by APC as a normal
book in the coming months.
Before starting the copy-editing process, the editors (Felix Treguer and Melanie Du Long
de Rosnay) thought to give a chance to the overall community
to review the draft.
Significant changes cannot be made at this time, but it would be very much appreciated if
you could:
- spot possible factual mistakes, or
- suggest to add a missing reference, a definition, an appendix
- possibly propose a short story (but be sure to speak to the editors first),
- last but not least: suggest a better title for the book
The deadline for your feedback/input is March 13th.
The book was initially co-written on google docs (sorry :-)), transferred to LaTeX, and
back to google doc (with some problems) here:

about the exact one.
I also wanted to stress that we explicitly wanted to avoid presenting
this as an "all inclusive" book on CNs but as the perspective of the
specific group that we managed to gather (among which three founders of
CNs in Europe) in this specific moment in time.
My opinion is that through personal stories (a large part of the book)
one can learn a lot even if the actual content of the stories might be
already or soon outdated.

I have emailed to Jane and Mark Bruell for the idea of a short set of case
studies in North America. Originally our 6 acre community garden was to
have a small Mesh Networking using TP Link devices and connected point to
point to the Northshore Amateur Radio Club. 8 km as the crow flies.
Unfortunately the trees block the point of sight and we were unable to get
permision or power at a few hops on private property connecting to the
tower. Despite this I am still interested in seeing how we can assist our
local community in a Community Networking ie. Low income areas etc.
Perhaps if other North Americans in this forum can setup a shared document
we can start builidng some case studies to share

Melanie Du Long de Rosnay) thought to give a chance to the overall
community
to review the draft.
Significant changes cannot be made at this time, but it would be very much
appreciated if you could:
- spot possible factual mistakes, or
- suggest to add a missing reference, a definition, an appendix
- possibly propose a short story (but be sure to speak to the editors
first),
- last but not least: suggest a better title for the book
The deadline for your feedback/input is March 13th.
The book was initially co-written on google docs (sorry :-)), transferred
to LaTeX, and back to google doc (with some problems) here:

Dear all,
Just to let you know that there is a small extension for the netCommons
book review until March 24th.
For those that missed the follow-up discussion, in addition to the
google doc below there is also the "report version" pdf available on
which you can refer for your feedback:

I also forgot to mention that the book will contain beautiful
illustrations by Sarah Viguer, made during the booksprint.
It was interesting to watch "live" on the wall the interpretations of
our discussions and written text by someone not expert in this field :-)
