Hi All –
There will be an interesting “spectrum symposium” today in Washington. See below from the
awesome Joly MacFie of ISOC NY Chapter.
This is more the high-level policy-related aspects, but it is noteworthy that NTIA is
bringing out the DOC Secretary (“Secretary” = Minister in the US).
For those that may not be aware, NTIA manages “public” or government spectrum vs the FCC.
FCC manages private sector/commercial spectrum.
And, FCC is part of NTIA’s long-standing (over 50 years) Interagency Radio Advisory
Committee (IRAC). The IRAC is the first inter-agency (mulit-ministry/multi-govt org)
coordinating body.
NTIA manages the IRAC and entities like FCC, Transportation, Energy, Defense, and many
more are on that committee.
In any event, it may be of interest as they may signal a policy/tech direction during this
event.
Best,
Jane
