Dear all,
Thanks to all those who have provided feedback on the DC3 outcome document so far.
If you have any further feedback or material to add in the section on informative material, please do it by Friday 4 October using the pad https://pad.codigosur.org/DraftPolicyModelCN
All the best
Luca
Happy weekend everyone,
I saw the following in the Web Foundation's weekly newsletter and thought
it was worth sharing:
The patriarchy of community networks - Women working in community networks
face oppression and harassment in their efforts to improve connectivity in
their communities. GenderIT shines a light on this often invisible reality:
https://www.genderit.org/feminist-talk/our-routes-womens-node-illustrated-j…
Best,

Hi everybody, here is the public consultation about (or not about :-))
Community NetWorks...
https://www.itu.int/en/council/cwg-internet/Pages/consultation-oct2019.aspx
I think that the debates push the issues to a more generic way about the
concepts of who really is a CN.
With this position its possible to conclude that they choose the middle
way. like Buda could said :-).
Lets participate.

Hi all,
For those who are based in BRICS countries and might be interested in spending a semester in Rio working on digital policies, just a friendly reminder that there is only one week left to apply for the 2020 CyberBRICS Fellowship in Rio de Janeiro.
Feel free to circulate this call to your networks.

Dear colleagues, (apologies for crossposting)
It is a great pleasure to announce the second edition of the CyberBRICS Fellowship Programme to be hosted at FGV Law School, Rio de Janeiro.
The programme will offer five remunerated fellowships (between USD 2000 and 2300 per month), from February to July 2020, at FGV DIREITO RIO, to support selected scholars having relevant experience in the area related to the activities of the 2020-2021 work plan of the CyberBRICS* project, namely regulation of Internet access and the digitalisation of public administrations in BRICS countries (Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa). Applicants should have relevant experience in at least one of the BRICS countries.
The Call for Applications is available at https://cyberbrics.info/call-for-applications-cyberbrics-fellowship-program…
Selected fellows will be expected to be based in Rio de Janeiro and will have a dedicated office within the FGV main building, in 190 praia de Botafogo, Rio de Janeiro.
Further information on the CyberBRICS project can be found at https://cyberbrics.info/
Besides the fellowship programme, we are developing a Network of CyberBRICS Associated Scholars, allowing scholars interested in CyberBRICS activities and having relevant experience in the CyberBRICS avenues of research to cooperate with us. Should you be interested in this latter opportunity, please feel free to send me a personal email.
Please feel free to share this message to your networks.
Kind regards
Luca

Dear all,
Unfortunately we’ve had to postpone Ritu’s webinar today due to a convergence of technical issues and delays over here on the Oxford University side of things. Sorry!! We’re working on getting our livestreaming functionality up and running very soon. So stay tuned for a new date – we’ll reschedule as soon as possible.
Best,
Kira

Subject: Next 'Rights to the Network' webinar: Oct 10th with Ritu Srivastava
Dear all,
As many of you know, we started a webinar series on ‘Rights to the Network’ as part of the IGF Dynamic Coalition on Community Networks (DC3)<https://www.intgovforum.org/multilingual/content/dynamic-coalition-on-commu…> to help build capacity and knowledge around issues related to community networks.
I’m excited to let you know that the next webinar will be livestreamed the YouTube Channel for the Programme in Comparative Media Law and Policy at the University of Oxford (https://www.youtube.com/user/PCMLPOXFORD) on October 10th at 9:30 AM (UTC) with Ritu Srivastava talking about innovations in licensing, based on her experiences in India.
The first webinar was with Steve Song about access to infrastructure. You can watch it here: https://youtu.be/ijjYmOYZzWk
This is a great opportunity to create a dialogue around these issues – you can comment and participate live with Q&A and afterward with comments on the video. Stay tuned for more info closer to the date.
Best wishes,
Kira
