Hey Nico, thanks for sharing this. I just found something in the notes
we should celebrate:
"ITEM 015: Special Interest Groups (SIGs)
LEAD: Avri Doria
OPEN: 06 June 2017, CLOSED: 27 Mar 2018
DESCRIPTION: Approval for SIGs to be part of the Chapters AC. Please
refer to 24 Oct 2016 ChAC meeting HERE under section 4.2.
06 June 2017: It appears that the ISOC Bylaws do not distinguish between
geographical chapters and SIGs. So in principle SIGs should be part of
the ChAC. It is not clear whether SIGs have the same formal status as
geographical chapters. Admitting SIGs to the ChAC may create some
issues. Double voting could be avoided by not giving voting rights to
SIGs. The Steering Committee is discussing the matter. [Decision] There
was no quorum.
12 September 2017: It was proposed to allow SIGs to participate in ChAC
as observers. The formal proposal involves changing the ChAC Rules and
Procedures, see: HERE.
[Decision] There were no objections to those changes. It was agreed to
submit them for formal approval on the mailing list.
27 March 2018: There was one objection, so the proposal was put to the
vote. It was accepted. The proposed changes have been implemented.
[Decision] Closed"
What are these "implemented changes"?
The other comment, on "positive influence ISOC's plan", it seemns that
this diverse group is qualified to map issues and stablish alternatives
for Community Networks, specially in the field. Let's share experiences!

I have already asked what would be the expected channels or strategies
to articulate collaboration between the CNSIG, the regional chapters
and the Community Networks campaign that ISOC is pushing forward in
relation to it's 2018 action plan:

For the CN area the ISOC campaign will:
* Highlight replicable models that represent new ways of working,
* Influence changes in policy frameworks to enable community networks
to flourish, and
* Scale up deployment of, and ensure continuity for, the Community
Network model.
I believe we need to seriously explore what will be the role of the
CNSIG in that context and how can we positively influence ISOC's plan
to create real impact with this campaign.
