the proper thing to do would be:
* either drop nodogsplash altogether for something better (that includes
ipv6 too, for example)
* or ask someone (lynxsis maybe?) if they are willing to refactor
GatewayInterface properly.
i'll try the second. If anyone has suggestions for the first option,
more than welcome :)

considering how important the captivel portal/user auth is for community
networks, perhaps we could do a fork of nodogsplash (or another captive
portal for openwrt such as coovachilli)?
Besides fixing the gateway thing, this fork could have added features such
as the voucher system (with a proper user interface) and some provision to
keep it working when the internet connection goes down.
I'm really interesting in learning and dedicating sometime to program this
if there'll be support from lime developers :)
