Hi All,
Hey James welcome to the mailing list :D
2 - It looks like the Nanostation M2 has AR7240
chipset, the prebuilt
images say ar71xx - is that compatible?
Yess
When i try to upload using web
interface of the stock firmware I get error message 'Wrong firmware
version is uploaded', which is unexpected according to OpenWRT
installation instructions for my device. I've tried all images I could
get my hands on from your firmware downloads, using the factory
version e.g. openwrt-15.05.1-ar71xx-generic-ubnt-loco-m-xw-squashfs-factory
Mmh... Strange.
So, the fact that you're using the factory firmware is good. But you
should use the "nano" image instead of the "loco" one, so:
openwrt-15.05.1-ar71xx-generic-ubnt-nano-m-squashfs-factory.bin
or
openwrt-15.05.1-ar71xx-generic-ubnt-nano-m-xw-squashfs-factory.bin
depending if your Nanostation M2 is XM (older) or XW (newer), can you
check it? (I think this can be seen looking at the MAC address, don't
know where is a reference table).
Then there's the big Ubiquiti trap/joke called AirOS 5.6: flashing
OpenWrt/LEDE on top of AirOS 5.6 bricks your device, debrikking via
serial connection is possible.
If you have AirOS 5.6 installed you will have to downgrade to AirOS
5.5. I think that 5.5 is not available anymore on their site so you
can download it from here:
https://uz.sns.it/~ilario/XM.v5.5.11.28002.150723.1344.bin
https://uz.sns.it/~ilario/XW.v5.5.10-u2.28005.150723.1358.bin
Then, until when Chef is not restored, you can try with pre-compiled
LibreMesh 16.07 taken from here:
https://downloads.libremesh.org/community_chaos/16.07/ar71xx/generic/
Let us know how things go on!
Ciao,
Ilario
