Hi Everyone,
The last LibreMesh release (I don't remember if it was announced or
not, but it is here :) ) brings support for 11s and many other things.
I was wondering... now that the wdr3500/3600/4300 devices are no longer
accessible... which ones can we use?
Now there are a lot of devices with the MTK7601, and others with
QCA6174.
I've tried some Xiaomi device that comes with the MTK7601
processor+radios and it works... but don't have knowledge about
performance and robustness... and if there are any dual radio with
weather enclosure around.

Yes, I've also been on the quest for an affordable dual-band radio.
Right now my favorite is archer c50 v1. It won't work with adhoc but
mesh mode seems to be fine, and costs less than 40 USD here, I haven't
been able to test it in production, but perhaps if more people get
one....
Can you post the link to this xiaomi model?

Soon we will have three "xiaomi wifi router 3" and two "xiaomi mi wifi
mini" devices to test in our cn.
Unfortuantely they have 100Mbps lan and not gigabit and non detacheable
antennas. But the price is very good for experimenting with them.

Bruno, can you send pictures of this router without it's cover?
I'd like to see how the antennas are connected to the board.
Also, do you know if the antennas are bi-band or the 2.4Ghz antenna is
inside the router like in other models?

I've updated the pictures available in the openwrt device page:

As you can see, the board is the size of two credit cards and has uFL
connectors for the antennas.
Both of the antennas seem identical, and the circuitry around the uFL
connectors seem to be identical also, but as I don't have a 5ghz device
with me, i can't test it.
Maybe tomorrow I'll be able to test.
They are now using LibreMesh perfectly.
Tomorrow night also will test throughput between two of these devices.

Here they are. It looks like both antennas are connected to both chips
(there is a track in the other side of the board connecting the antenna on
the left to the MT7620 chip).
Is there anyway I can test this?

model.

there a place to compile this information in a list of compatible devices?
I see the mostly empty list at:

Such a list could be part of a guide about how to choose a device, or
how to guess whether a device might work or is definitely unsupported.
For example:
"Look up the device on the OpenWRT Table of Hardware, and make sure that
the System-on-a-Chip SOC is one of the following: blah, blah, or blah.
If the SoC is from a different manufacturer, it almost definitely won't
work. If it's a different model from manufacturer blah, then maybe it'll
work."
"If the Flash/MB is 2mb, then putting LibreMesh on it will be difficult
or impossible. If it has 4mb, then a lightweight version of LibreMesh
can run well on it. If it has 8mb or more, then it can handle a full
version of LibreMesh."
This way I can look on MercadoLibre here in Ecuador, see that there are
TPLink 841n and 841hp but not 842, there are 940n, and one 1043n, and
after asking the seller to send me a photo showing the version number of
the router, I can know whether LM will probably run or definitely not.

I like the idea too, but it would be much easier if it were a wiki or some
kind of editable page.
I contribute to openwrt's wiki every time when I find out info on a new
device.
I understand the content from libremesh is in github, but it is a lot more
bureaucratic to edit the html, push it, wait for merge...
So, dear libremesh site managers, do you think we can have a wiki or some
open content solution?
