Hi all,
I don't remember proposing to create a web form but I agree it would be
useful :-)
oh... it was in a talk during IGF regarding how to determine who is a
member of a Community Net and who is joining the CNSIG independently;
not an e-mail.
What I proposed in a previous e-mail to Nico was to
set-up a pad where
we can all add some important topics for discussion before the kick-off
meeting.
answered this in the other thread.
And I agree that the application process and
"eligibility" is one that
should be high on the list.
We can start working on the "application form".
To avoid having an exessive amount of pads for temporary discussions,
I've added this "generic" one:
https://pad.codigosur.org/CNSIG_notes
...and already moved there the first form structure proposal.
Related to this, I would feel more comfortable if some
major CNs were
already in the list (in addition to
guifi.net I would also invite
freifunk.net for example) when we will start spreading the news.
I think it's perfectly fine if we have the first SIG meeting with the
founding members and then we reach out to other communities. We, the
current group, have shared this CNSIG creation process for a while
already and I feel it's good for consolidation that we have this first
meeting among those who started it.
There are a lot of communities to reach out to, but considering this is
at least the third time we try to create a global community networks
"federation", I prefer to move slowly but steadily, hoping this time we
can succeed :)
If a majority prefers to start reaching out ASAP, let's discuss how.

I fully agree to add Roger and possibly more
Guifi.net reps to the list.
But one of our top priorities should be to establish some basic formal
procedures, like joining the SIG, parting from it etc. In my opinion,
having well-documented procedures is a matter of transparency and gives
more credibility to the group.
While we establish this formal procedures, for the
case of Roger - and
maybe for any other such "applications" that come in before procedures
are in place - we can ask the applicants to send an e-mail stating:
Organization:
Representative/s:
(name <email>)
Description:
(Brief description of the Organization's involvement in Community Networks)
I can ask Roger to send such info and share it with the Council.
Panos had Suggested we create a simple web form to receive applications.
We can implement that easily.

Hi all,
Roger from
guifi.net <http://guifi.net> made contact after the
official ISOC announcement.
He asks what's the procedure to join the CNSIG.
We haven't yet established this clearly but in my opinion
guifi.net
<http://guifi.net>
needs no introduction and I would just invite them to join directly.
If anyone considers it's better to wait untill we have an established
procedure, please say so. Otherwise, I'll just tell Roger to join the
mailing list and add him in the ISOC admin system as a member of the
SIG.
Cheers!
