Great news:
SAn TAGGED A RELEASE CANDIDATE FOR THE LIBREMESH 20.09 RELEASE!!
Even if the LibreMesh development never stopped, it was since the 17.06
"Dayboot Rely" release that we didn't have an _official_ release.
The goal is to have the **final release at the beginning of November**.
This means that the release candidate needs testing, bug fixing and
loads of community love before the end of October, so that we can have
an amazing release that can actually ease the creation of community
networks everywhere :)
We can coordinate the efforts on this mailing list and on the
IRC/Element chatroom (Element is the new name of Riot chat):
https://libremesh.org/communication.html
Seems that the next release will be (at least initially) source-only,
which means that you will have to compile it yourself on top of OpenWrt
18.06.8 or 19.07.4. Right now there's no way to download the
pre-compiled binary, but I hope this will be available at some point.
In order to compile the release candidate follow the instructions from
the Development page:
https://libremesh.org/development.html
As you can see in the compiling instructions, both OpenWrt 18.06.8 or
19.07.4 can be used as a base, but I think we should have more testing
on the newest 19.07.4 (until now the testing has been focussed mostly on
18.06.8).
There's no need to select the release candidate branch for the
compilation, seems that the master branch will be used also for the
testing and the relevant commits will be cherry-picked in November (SAn,
please correct if I'm wrong).
You can see the known issues on the tickets list:
https://github.com/libremesh/lime-packages/issues
And if you want to take care of an issue (thanks!!!), please have a look
at these lists where you can find some indication of the priority:
https://github.com/orgs/libremesh/projects/2
A last thing:
do we need a codename for the release or "20.09" is enough?
Propose your favourite name, starting with the "E" letter if possible,
on the chatroom and then we'll organise a poll :)
Thanks!!!

Hi,
I need to install a program in a Lime router (built based on OpenWRT 18.06)
First I have done `opkg update`. It updated some lists of packages but I
also got the following errors:
--------------------
* opkg_download: Failed to download

Then I have tried to install the program and have got the following:
--------------------
root@EVC-7ab7ec:~# opkg install tc

But still I have problems to understand those messages. Any suggestion
on how to get the program installed?

I compiled a new Version of LibreMesh (Basis: OpenWrt 19.07.4) today ->
master rev. 80c79378 20200921_0912.
Now there is an error on each Node in Lime-App: "Un unexpected error
occurred, please contact the developer team"
Does anybody else has this Problem?
The mesh is working without any problem.
Regards,
Andy

Hi SAn,
it is the same error message - and my setup is similar to rallep71
(encrypted mesh), BUT i have the first-boot-wizard always compiled in the
images...
Maybe another suggestion?
Thanks,
Andy

In case you didn't know what WBM means:
"The Wireless Battle of the Mesh is an event that aims at bringing
together people from across the world to test the performance of
different routing protocols for ad-hoc networks" https://battlemesh.org/

Dear mesh enthusiasts,
WBM is going virtual!
After some months of reconsideration, we have concluded that it would be
kinda difficult to do the WBMv13 in person this year :..(
But our mission can't be shutdown by a mere 7.5 kilobytes of RNA - there
will be a dedicated mesh developer/community event in 2020!
The rough idea, for now, is to put together a schedule of around 10
interesting presentations, via BigBlueButton (streamcopied to
Peertube/YouTube) and a set of topic-based rooms on a voice chat server
(mumble). For now, things are still flexible - we can change this model
according to the expected number of participants.
We could also use this event to try running distributed experiments.
Next Steps:
1) Please help us find out how many participants we can expect for a small
online event that spans over 2 half-days during a weekend in
November/December. by marking your preferred date here [1];
2) Please help us spread the word by forwarding this call to your local
communities!
All the best,
The WBMv13 "Virtual Global Edition" orga team

Hi all,
I am trying to use the 3rd Radio on an MR18 to make an WAN Connection.
the phy2 is an Dualband (like the MX60).
As described in the lime-example I used the following in my lime-node:
###
config lime 'system'
config lime 'network'
config net 'wirelessclientWAN'
option linux_name 'wlan2-sta'
list protocols 'wan'
config lime 'wifi'
config wifi 'radio2'
list modes 'client'
option channel 'auto'
option client_ssid 'mynet'
option client_key 'mynetkey'
option client_encryption 'psk2'
option distance '300'
###
I get an Connection and an ipv6 address but no ipv4. What am I missing?
Thanks,
Andy
I did not try but I suppose that if you create an interface specific configuration specifying only the channel, it may work.
So, try adding something like this
https://github.com/libremesh/lime-packages/blob/e572b4531b2fdcc89965974e0b2…
config wifi radio0
option channel 6
In /etc/config/lime-node run lime-config and reboot.
If the radio cannot do both 2.4 and 5 at the same time, clearly this way you'll have only 2.4 GHz.
Let us know!
Ciao,
Ilario
