Hi all,
another "bug" I found compiling from openwrt snapshot:
Collected errors:
* satisfy_dependencies_for: Cannot satisfy the following dependencies for
lime-debug:
* iputils-ping6
* opkg_install_cmd: Cannot install package lime-debug.
It seems in snapshot is no exclusive iputils-ping6 but a iputils-ping which
combines v4 and v6 (symlinks).
so I have to deactivate lime-debug...
Regards,
Andy
Some users are scared of using an open (no password) wireless community
network. They have heard terrible things about it: If they surf the
Internet without WPA2, their soul might burn in Hell.
I guess the most likely attack we could suffer is some kind of Person In
The Middle attack. I am trying to make a very easy list of
recommendations to make users feel (and be) safer in an open wireless
network. Many of them will use the network through mobile devices,
mostly Android.
I can think of using:
- HTTPS-Everywhere add-on (I think Firefox now does not need that
anymore, but not sure about Android)
- Some DNS protection (I don't know much about the DNSsec, DNScrypt,
DoT, etc. Maybe the easiest solution would be to simply configure a
trusted DoH address in Firefox if they use a recent version of Firefox?
I mean on desktops. I don't know if that is possible or easy on Android.
- Tor
- a VPN
Any comment or any other recommendation is welcome!
I tried to make a new Image on base 19.07.4 with the actual (todays) lime
Master.
I got this error:
Collected errors:
* check_data_file_clashes: Package lime-webui wants to install file
/home/andreas/git/libremesh/openwrt19074/build_dir/target-mipsel_24kc_musl/root-ramips/etc/profile.d/system_notes.sh
But that file is already provided by package * ubus-lime-utils
* opkg_install_cmd: Cannot install package lime-webui.
I am using both - lime-webui (based on luci) and lime-app.
But it seems that now they don't like each other anymore?
Thanks for Ideas!
Andy

insofern, als die lime-app nicht funktioniert.

Powered by LuCI openwrt-19.07 branch (git-20.247.75781-0d0ab01)
<https://github.com/openwrt/luci> / LiMe master development (master rev.
7181c3b 20200927_1250)
Picostation connected to the router is no longer accessible via wifi.
Obviously the internet access is not detected and no wan interface is
configured.
lime-hwd-openwrt-wan and check-internet are installed I thought they would
do some kind of magic here.

Jürgen
Hi,
I need to install a program in a Lime router (built based on OpenWRT 18.06)
First I have done `opkg update`. It updated some lists of packages but I
also got the following errors:
--------------------
* opkg_download: Failed to download
http://downloads.openwrt.org/releases/18.06-SNAPSHOT/packages/mips_24kc/lib…,
wget returned 8.
* opkg_download: Failed to download

wget returned 8.
* opkg_download: Failed to download
http://snapshots.libremesh.org/packages/mips_24kc/libremesh/Packages.gz,
wget returned 4.
--------------------
Then I have tried to install the program and have got the following:
--------------------
root@EVC-7ab7ec:~# opkg install tc

I'm not sure I understand the message nor what I could do to solve it.
In order to get more info about the problem I also did the following:

root@EVC-7ab7ec:~#
--------------------
But still I have problems to understand those messages. Any suggestion
on how to get the program installed?
Hi all,
I got another thing:
As the Netgear EX6120 is still not in the latest release, but only in
Snapshot, I had to compile the whole thing new.
As for today I can use it in the default settings. But when I try to make a
different config (with lime-community and lime-node) I got the following
error by executing the lime-config command:
root@LiMe-c853cc:/etc/config# lime-config

/usr/lib/lua/lime/config.lua:203: in function 'main'
/usr/bin/lime-config:55: in main chunk
[C]: ?
root@LiMe-c853cc:/etc/config#
Does anybody know this error?
Thanks,
Andy
Amazing event ahead!

Dear mesh enthusiasts,
We can now officially announce it, Wireless Battle of the Mesh is going
virtual! According to the poll [1], WBMv13 will take place between 14th and
15th November 2020!
After some months of reconsideration, we have concluded that it would be
kinda difficult to do the WBMv13 in person this year :..(
But our mission can't be shutdown by a mere 7.5 kilobytes of RNA - there
will be a dedicated mesh developer/community event in 2020!
The rough idea, for now, is to put together a schedule of around 10
interesting presentations, via BigBlueButton (streamcopied to
Peertube/YouTube) and a set of topic-based rooms on a voice chat server
(mumble). For now, things are still flexible - we can change this model
according to the expected number of participants. We could also use this
event to try running distributed experiments.
Please SPREAD this link (or the announcement text below this email) wide
and far:

Your help is appreciated :)
+ info is being updated at the WBMv13 wiki at

We are looking forward to meeting the whole community in November!
All the best,

The Wireless Battle Mesh v13
Virtual Global Edition
14th - 15h of Nov 2020, Anywhere on Earth
==========================================================
The upcoming 'Wireless Battle of the Mesh' event will take place from Sat
14th - Sun 15th of November, in a virtual room.
The event aims to bring together people from across the globe who are
interested in community networks, including wireless mesh network
technologies, fiber infrastructure, Do-It-Yourself Internet Service
Providers, OpenWrt community, and more generally how to create and maintain
a thriving community of people involved in building their own networks.
This year, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it will be a full virtual event.
We envision 2 days of expert presentations, workshops, and fruitful
discussions:
whether you are a mesh networking enthusiast, community networking
activist, protocol developer, or have an interest in networking in general,
come and join us!
Continuously updated information about the event:

Registration
============
The event is *free of charge* and registration is optional - but it would
be nice to have an idea of the number of participants, to be able to plan
the infrastructure.

Call for talks / workshops
======================
We invite participants to propose workshops, talks, or other events.
We welcome contributions that broadly address the question of community
networks from any of several perspectives:
technical, organizational, economical, regulatory, juridical. Example
topics:
Wireless Community Networks
Community Networks that deploy Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) networks
TV white space as a precious network resource (radio spectrum)
Free hardware and free software for Community Networks
How to organize a durable community structure?
How to involve non-technical people? To "digital stewardship" and beyond?
How to disseminate the spirit of community networks, knowledge etc?
Connecting rural areas: challenges and solutions
Public fiber networks: architecture, funding, private actors involved,
oversight
Internet of Things (IoT) networks and their impact on society
How to take advantage of a community network in ways otherwise not
possible? What are the applications?
OpenWrt features, existing or upcoming
OpenWrt community
Technologies that work during the COVID-19 and that are friendly for
community networks
Deadline for submitting a proposal: 30th October.
To submit a proposal, please add it to the wiki at
