if you use the command "sysupgrade" it
should keep your config files.
(sysupgrade -n overwrites the config files). from the GUI, just tick the
box that says keep the config files.
I suspect that what Brian says was the
problem:
for removing bad old configurations you should use the "-n" option on
"sysupgrade" command or select the checkbox for not keeping the
configuration in the web interface.
