Hi, Do you have a recommended chef firmware build and prefered USB wifi dongle to wire on a RPI Zero W https://hackaday.com/2015/11/28/first-raspberry-pi-zero-hack-piggy-back-wif… Then it could be a cheap and neat LibreMesh node whith 2 wlan interfaces ?! Soyons Libre!

Nice discovery Mark, I would like to make few nodes providing AP + Mesh for Festival this summer... Discovering DJDNS, very enthousiast about perspectives.. Again: Do NOT expect ANY USB wifi device to serve more than 5-7 clients in AP mode or perform decently in mesh mode. For cjdns this usually doesn't matter because people connect to a couple of peers on the Internet and then have a very small number of local neighbours. And if you want to servce a crowd with WiFi the AP is the even bigger problem here, running 802.11s on a USB interface may work as long as there are only very few neighbours. So honestly: Why bother with SBC made for displaying advertisements on screens to build a router? There are tons of good router SBC and you can buy them reday-made in a plastic case in the supermarket.

Single board computer https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Single-board_computer Given Daniel's experience, and the complexity of buying different parts and putting them together versus buying a router, I agree that the network at your event is likely to function better and be more durable if you use factory-made routers. Enhancing experiment & reducing cost is a great part of my motivation... I like Raspberry as a single platform for many use. One is a mediacenter, the other a bluetooth recorder or speaker, one is Nexcloud or Peertube, other runs Duniter. I must still try IPFS to have mutual storage... I like the idea of being able to run distributed and self hosted services providing equivalent services as Big Players do. All could start with services for local community in a mesh area ;) Each new node connected to brings new services or provides more bandwith to actual Internet... CJDNS could be a perfect new Internet architecture. Growing little by little, it's a perfect way to get back our Internet clean from commercial exploitation. If I can share experience with someone, I would love to try https://github.com/tomeshnet/prototype-cjdns-pi But Daniel said, they are bad for wireless mesh and AP. So what SBC device do you recommend? Could it run LIME or just AP? Thx

The issue with most SBC board I tried the onboard wifi is either not support by OpenWRT or can not do Mesh mode Maybe in the furture i will look at the ESPRESSObin and MACHIATObin My focus for CJDNS will be on AES-NI on x86 based board like a ATOMIC Pi/ Intel NUC J4005 (will include CJDNS with my LibreMesh X86 OpenWRT build) then use for test Mesh (build Libremesh from source for my test boards below, they will not run CJDNS, the device above witll run CJDNS and act as gw) Nano Pi NEO2 with USB wifi (USB Ralink 5572 Wifi 2.8/5.8Ghz - support Mesh mode) Cisco Meraki MR24/MX60 (PowerPC architecture, with Atheros 2.4/5.8 Ghz PCI wifi) Netgear EX6100v2/EX6150v2 Wifi Extenders (IPQ401x with ATH10 wifi 2.4/5.8Ghz) On Sat, Mar 9, 2019 at 5:27 PM fred <support(a)qo-op.com> wrote:
