This list has been quiet.
I urge everyone who has an interest in the future of the ISOC Community
Network SIG to participate and join this presentation.
It has been short notice, and there were not many time-of-day
alternatives to accommodate everyone's schedule.
I ask you all to join this call if you can. Even on mute.
I've been talking to Evelyn on acceptable ways to establish a ISOC
acceptable bank account for the Community Network SIG.
Ramon Roca from GuiFi.net has declared that the GuiFi Foundation was
established precisely for this very purpose and they would be happy to
sponsor the account resources.
I think now is the time to re-evaluate the SIG.
This group has the potential to be an active federated resource &
exchange for independent and autonomous networks.
The greater SIG membership is about 900 members and growing.
The relative silence on this list has not been heard by the 900 members.
I look forward to seeing you tomorrow,
Adam.

Dear Jésica Selene Giudice, Earlier this year I reached out to the SIG
leaders mailing list and asked for a group of volunteers to constitute a
Working Group that would focus on finding solutions to the pertinent
issues SIGs face. I’m happy to announce that over the course of the
last 2 to 3 months, the working group constituting of SIG leaders and
ChAC volunteers met 5 times and together came up with some concrete
suggestions that today constitute the SIG strategy for 2021. The
strategy has been shared with the Senior Executive Team of the Internet
Society and now ready to be presented to you. I have created a
https://doodle.com/poll/g8tpfbx6ubznannt in order for us to lock in the
time for our conversation. What I require from you! Please nominate
one person to VOTE on the https://doodle.com/poll/g8tpfbx6ubznannt. The
nominated person should look at the available times and discuss these
with the other SIG officers to get the best time for everyone The
nominated person goes back to form and casts a vote for the appropriate
time for ALL SIG leaders to attend the call After receiving the vote, I
will set up a call at that time and invite all SIG leaders of the
Accessibility SIG to the call You can only VOTE for a one-time slot per
SIG. I request that the nominated person looks at the doodle this week
because the schedule starts tomorrow, Tuesday, 13 October 2020.
Looking forward to presenting to you all and gathering your invaluable
feedback. Kind Regards, Evelyn

Sorry, we have not set a date for the community networks meeting. So far
we only define it to be the first week of September.
Friday (12 - 18UTC) or Sunday (any time) is good for me, but I can adapt
to other days / times.
The sooner there is a definition, the sooner we can invite networks and
organizations outside of this group / CNSIG.

*Report back session *
*Group : CN Summit*
· Use pf the declaration and its purpose
· How to get everyone involved
· Levelling the playing field
· Need an oversight committee for preparatory process
· Must be a bottom up from regions to global
· Focus on commonalities
· Build on previous initiatives
· Gathering needed before the summit of the CNs – spaces to
accommodate local circumstances
· Risk – stress in the process may backfire
· Should not start with a blank page – but needs a framework document
to be setup
· Wireless international group is already meeting – need to ensure
their inclusion
· Role of woman to shape the process
*Group: Inclusivity*
· Inclusivity is a broad issue: Gender, territorial, Language
· Gender: Cultural constrains in general is noted; needs to be a
deepening of understanding of power relationships and roles of different
members of society in each region
· CN definition to help people realise if they need to be part of the
process
· Energy on putting action on sensitive groups – to empower
marginalised people in more roles
· Technologies that can be made your own has an important role e.g.
Alta Mundi
· As a collective of CNs – need to reflect more on what it means to
be more diverse and inclusive
· Actions must be undertaken as close to the ground as possible e.g.
local content process
· Regional diversity: No representation of the Asia-Pacific region –
must be addressed; note several examples from this region in GisWatch
· Language diversity: Regional discussions are very important;
therefore work at the regional level – before global level; noted that
Francophone not represented – must be addressed; See Alta Mundi translation
project – where communities undertook translation.
· Race is also an issue to be addressed
*Group: Policy *
· Work at national and regional level to obtain access to fibre and
spectrum – provide exemplars (write up cases) as to how this can be done
for others to learn from
· Similarly access to USFs – which must be more flexible in what they
fund e.g. skills development, tech development
· Spectrum Access: Has to be taken to regulators and a wider
community of stakeholders; therefore need to provide some information pack
in this regard
· Access to backhaul: Bring cases that can demonstrate benefits of
access; try to make governments look good in the process;
· Select best practice cases from different countries and provide
such info to government
· Problem of treating first nations as a country within a country
must be addressed
· GisWatch / or continuation can be used for advocacy purposes

Queridis,
grato momento :)

Dears,
As a result of ISOC's demands regarding SIGs, we are planning a CN
meeting for July 28, in just over two weeks.
What do you think, we do it? On 28th, or we change the date?
Who wants to participate? Who wants to contribute to organize it?
About myself, I am eager to give this space a little push and dedicate a
little love to maintain it. I understand that it is a difficult year for
many of us, perhaps sharing us give us a pleasant moment :)
PORTUGUES
Meus queridis,

Sarbani has a problem with the list, meanwhile I share with you her email...
Also, Sarbani and Sol Luca de Tena (she is not available for sending
mails for personal reasons) have aproved the document (by chat), and
they confirmed their assistance to the webinar on July 28th.
We can´t apply for chapter&sigs ISOC grants, because we don´t have a
legal entity nor bank account...
I will share with ISOC the activity plan as it is, we have no more time.
Then, we can check if we want/need to do something different. But this
burocracy is urgent...
Cheers!

Saludos!
