Here we are considering again the captive portal thing. It would be a
welcome page with some community news, not real authentication. I guess
we would like a system where MAC addresses of users who just clicked an
"Ok" button of the splash page would be validated for a month. So they
would have to go through this News page once a month.
I've seen Nodogsplash seems to be maintained again, so I can try to make
it work for LiMe. But first I wanted to ask about Pitbull, as I think
that was something similar but specially made for LiMe.
What is the status of Pitbull?
Would it work for the described need?

How can I tell?
Hi,
I had a node working ok with LiMe 16.07. It is a TP-Link WR2543ND.
I tried to upgrade it to LiMe 17.06 using the sysupgrade.bin image from
my network profile on chef.libremesh.org
After restarting it did not publish any SSID. I connected through
Ethernet and I was able to go into luci with my browser (http://anygw/).
In Administration > Network > Wireless I could see the SSID modes were
on "Client"
Then I tried by upgrading it with the factory.bin image.
I had the same results, but this time I see the mode for the three SSIDs
is "Unknown".
- How do I check those things through commands?
- How can I have this router working? I guess there must be something
wrong in the image, as everything worked ok with LiMe 16.07

Hello,
I have two Buffalo routers that I would like to use with LibreMesh, but
there weren't any factory or sysupgrade firmwares available at downloads. I
tried to make firmwares with online and local cooking, but it complained
that image is too large.
The router has 16MB of flash and has official 18.06 images available. I
also tried -mini profile without success.
I also tried tl-wdr3600 image that cooked just fine.
Should I wait for 18.06 build for LibreMesh of what?

My phone running stock Android 6 automatically disconnects from any WiFi network about five seconds after detecting the lack of internet connection. This is very inconvenient because it makes WiFi use for local file sharing impossible without internet.
On other occasions, phones connect to our WiFi and display "no internet" for a few seconds even when there is connection, and this bothers is but it's not critical.
Is there a way to program LibreMesh to fool my phone into thinking there is internet all the time? I do not know how Android checks connectivity. Is the spoofing (if this is a proper use of the term) as simple as configuring a static route for a particular IP and pointing it to a mini server in the router that responds to a ping?

Recently, while connected to our LibreMesh network in Ecuador, I tried to install a program on my laptop as a Docker container, and the container failed multiple times to download all the necessary files during the Docker build process. When I activated a VPN connection that connects to the internet in the USA, the Docker build completed successfully. I have also noted that Telegram sometimes takes a minute or more to connect to its network and exchange messages, when other apps have no delay (email, WhatsApp). Any ideas what might be happening? I guess it would be helpful to do another test from a different network in Ecuador to see if the issue is with LibreMesh or Ecuador.

Let me share some good news for community networks -and bad ones for ISPs:
0.- Bitmessage has been working on LAN peer auto-discovery. It is
already in v0.6 branch, we tested it and it works.
1.- Retroshare will finally have asynchronous messaging working
(Retroshare already has LAN peer auto-discovery).
2.- Impressive ZeroNet is aware of the importance of LAN peer
auto-discovery and they are going to add this feature.
