Hi everyone,
So, two weeks (The deadline is Friday 12 April 2019 23:59 UTC) to
present workshop proposals on CN from the SIG for the IGF.
https://www.intgovforum.org/multilingual/content/igf-2019-call-for-workshop…
DC3 (The Dynamic Coalision for Community Connectivity, a space created
by some of the people in this list specifically for CN related topics)
has their own space.
ISOC and APC will probably propose something.
I would invite us to reflect if we want to be part of this spaces and how.
I see IGF spaces as a platform for us to get together and coordinate and
disseminate what we do with others, while we don't have a space for it
by ourselves.
It can demand a lot of energy (and Luca and NicoE have been investing a
lot).
I doubt the usefulness that this may have in influencing regulation, but
would love others to challenge that :)
I particularly would love to hear Erick and Karla's position on this, as
they have the regulators and lawmakers perspective on it.
regards,
Hi!
The gender coordinator for APC LOCNET Project will be there!
She is Cynthia El Khoury, and it would be great if you can meet her to
continue bonding projects.
This is her email: cynthia el khoury <cynthia(a)apc.org>

Hi all,
This is the application message from Kirat Communications Private
Limited to the CNSIG Council.
I think it is the first time that a private company is requesting
application to the council, so maybe it would be interesting to open up
a debate about this case.
Cheers,

Hi everyone,
I hope you are doing well!
I think we need to start thinking about the global summit.
During the following days I will be gathering events that have a fixed
date already, so we don't overlap.
If you have any dates of conferences or summits that are already fixed,
please share them in this thread.
Also, if you believe that this event should happen before or after
another one, please say it.
Events related to Community Networks/Mesh/Local services, that will
probably happen this year:
1. (North America/Worldwide) Indigenous Connectivity Summit - North America
2. Community Networks Exchange - India
3. African Community Network Summit - Africa
4. OurNetworks - Canada
5. BattleMesh - Europe
6. Decentralized Web Summit - San Francisco
Regards,
Hi All,
During our last meeting we proposed to re-elect the same people for the
executive council for the current one year period.
Notes of the meeting:
https://pad.codigosur.org/CNSIG_Meeting04
The proposal received no opposition in the meeting, but we agreed to
open the decision to vote here on the list.
Please express your vote during the next 5 days.
(If you were at the meeting please also express your vote here)
Cheers,
Nico
Hi everyone,
Jaspreet has let us know that he is no longer part of Gram Marg. His
work will still be related to community networks and he will send an
application from his new initiative.
For the time being I removed his e-mail address from this list and
invited him to join the general discussion list:
http://lists.cnsig.info/mailman/listinfo/discuss
Sarbani: if Gram Marg decides to appoint other representative/s please
let us know.
Cheers!

Hi all,
According to what has been shared so far, 10 out of 14 CNSIG member organizations will be represented in the IGF. This is a great opportunity to have a CNSIG meeting.
Should we define an agenda of matters we sould like to discuss in person?
And also, it would be great if everyone could share in what panels/workshops you will be presenting.
I'll start; according to the preliminary schedule[1] I'll be part of:
- "DC on Community Connectivity" session (11:20 - 12:20 Salle VII, Nov. 12)
- "WS 279: Investment Strategies to Scale Community Networks" (9:00 - 10:30, Salle IV, Nov.14)
Cheers,
Nico

Hi everyone,
For those in Africa/South America:
It would be interesting to know if anyone thought of applying and is not
doing it because it feels heavyweight... I offer myself to help any of
you if you want to work on your grant application.
The timing is quite tight (just 3 more days), but would be great if we
can get as many of us in the granting project.
